Analyzing the Acting Techniques

January 25, 2009 – 6:32 am
  1. Physicality: the expressive use of Body Language to generate emotions without speaking. A physical demeanor and look that conveys a believable character for the audience, used in the appropriate fashion for the scene.
  2. Voice: Tone, clarity, pronunciation, articulation and style to project a character’s feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Includes proper breathing, volume, dynamics, and voice inflections.
  3. Words: the intuitive choice of words, their hidden meaning and emotions they create, and how they shape and control the other characters, as well as the outcome of the scene.
  4. Attitude: body language combined with dialogue shapes the actor’s personality. It creates the mood that best personifies the feelings and attitude for the character. To add intrigue, they often send conflicting signals to aid plot development, and add mystery and unpredictability.

Learn to be consciously aware of your first impression when you meet someone. Create a ten second check off sheet in your mind if it helps. Disconnect from yourself, and establish the difference between how people actually see you, compared to your imagined self-image. Turn the ego off and be honest. Picture yourself from the boss’ point of view watching you walk and talk in a job interview. Find your areas of weakness and adapt.

It’s perfectly alright to laugh at yourself, and learn from the analysis. It’s a one-time learning process. Rent the movie “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and watch how Michael Caine teaches Steve Martin to carry himself with class and sophistication. They exaggerate it for laughs, but the lesson is perfect for showing how anyone can make subtle adjustments and dramatically alter their initial impression and accelerate their game. The level of mastery in each of the 4 techniques determines your skill at an alpha presentation.

On the surface, your first thoughts will be “this is all so corny and phony.” Of course it is! Think of how ridiculous the Tie is; a piece of cloth wrapped around your neck that chokes you somehow means high social status! Face it; humans are just sophisticated animals with a lot of technology. Like every other species, the males are reduced to stupid rituals to attract the opposite sex. It could be worse; think of the peacock. The female peacocks are butt ugly, and sit around in mud refusing to put out until the male “peacocks” their stuff. Reminds me of the Asbury Park beach scene at the Jersey shore. In peacocks, it’s the male with the beauty. They flaunt their feather colors ranging from iridescent blue-green to all the shimmering hues of the rainbow, (said with a lisp). The male proudly sticks his butt up high in the air, spreads his plumage and shakes his gorgeous tail feathers, seeking female approval to get laid. Imagine if the male peacock could speak;

“Look at the goddamn humiliation these bitches puts me through, I mean, I might as well be in the San Francisco Ballet or a gay fruitcake parade.”

Mastering your alpha presentation furthers your career and income, elevates your quality of life, and attracts a higher quality and quantity of women. So have fun with all of this; it’s the results that matter.
